Tajikistan, Cyprus Seek Stronger Parliamentary Ties Through Diplomacy Talks

Chairman of the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Faizali Idizoda met Friday with Cyprus Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos to discuss strengthening bilateral and inter-parliamentary cooperation, according to the Majlisi namoyandagon.
During the meeting, Idizoda emphasized the importance of expanding mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties through parliamentary diplomacy.
“Parliamentary diplomacy today is one of the important mechanisms for strengthening trust, expanding dialogue and bringing the positions of states closer together,” Idizoda said. “In this context, we welcome the development of relations between the legislative bodies of the two republics.”
He added that Tajikistan is ready to enhance cooperation through exchanges of parliamentary delegations, legislative experience and continued coordination within international parliamentary organizations.
The sides also welcomed Cyprus’ interest in expanding inter-parliamentary relations and discussed prospects for deeper cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Satisfaction was expressed with the level of cooperation between Tajikistan and Cyprus within influential international parliamentary organizations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the European Parliament and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
The participants noted that stronger inter-parliamentary relations and cultural exchanges could contribute significantly to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
