On July 1, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, Ms. Mafalda Duarte.

The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation and preparations for the 45th meeting of the Green Climate Fund Board, which will be held in Dushanbe.

President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the steadily expanding and productive partnership between Tajikistan and the Green Climate Fund.

The two sides held a substantive exchange of views on addressing the impacts of climate change, protecting glaciers in mountainous regions, strengthening water resources management, and reducing the risks and consequences of natural disasters.

The parties welcomed the approval of the Green Climate Fund’s Country Investment Program for Tajikistan, as well as the new regional initiative, «From Glaciers to Farmers.»

Cooperation in the energy and agricultural sectors also featured prominently in the discussions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation across all areas of shared interest.
