Tajikistan, UNICEF discuss new country program, human capital development

On the sideline of the International Investment Forum, titled “Digitalization of Free Economic Zones in the Conditions of Eurasian Countries,” Minister of Economic Development and Trade of TajikistanAbdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda met with Gabrielle Akimova, the newly appointed UNICEF representative in Tajikistan.
The sides discussed coordinating UNICEF’s new country program for 2027-2030 with the strategic priorities of Tajikistan under the framework of cooperation between the United Nations and the Government of Tajikistan on sustainable development.
Particular attention was paid to human capital development, improving the quality of education, developing modern and digital skills, reducing the digital divide, promoting social inclusion and creating equal opportunities for children and young people.
The sides expressed readiness to continue constructive and productive cooperation to support Tajikistan’s sustainable socioeconomic development.
