On September 27, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, participated in and addressed a ceremonial event in the city of Khorugh dedicated to the 35th anniversary of State Independence.

At the outset, the Head of State, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, sincerely congratulated the honorable and proud people of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province and the city of Khorugh on the occasion of the great and sacred national celebration—the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of Tajikistan.

It was emphasized that this celebration has become not only a symbol of unity and solidarity, a high sense of national identity, self-awareness and self-consciousness, and an unprecedented expansion of development and construction efforts, but also a worthy representation of Tajikistan and its cultured and civilized people on the international stage.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, stated that the patriotic people of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province have made a worthy contribution to this historic process, namely the strengthening of the values of independence and the foundations of national statehood.

It was noted that, in preparation for the 35th anniversary of State Independence, the construction and renovation of 1,362 facilities had been planned in the cities and districts of the province. To date, the population, entrepreneurs, and other charitable and generous individuals have constructed and commissioned 1,545 facilities of various purposes, which is significantly more than the approved target.

The Head of State expressed his sincere gratitude to the patriotic and hardworking people, as well as generous and charitable individuals of the province, including the city of Khorugh, for their contribution to this important undertaking.

The proud people of the province were called upon, through their good deeds and efforts, to transform the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province into a major center for the exchange of tourism experience in the region and, by preserving the good traditions of Tajik cultural appreciation and hospitality, to present it to the world even more widely.

Concluding his remarks, President Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the hardworking people of the province, including patriotic young people, would continue to work with a high sense of responsibility, constructive initiatives, and pride in national statehood for the development of their homeland and the strengthening of the capacity of our beloved Tajikistan.

Following the address by the Head of State, a grand concert program dedicated to the 35th anniversary of State Independence was held.

Masters of Tajik art and artists from the province added a special splendor to the ceremonial event with their performances of captivating songs and dances.

As part of the cultural program, memorable and enchanting songs from the works of renowned poets and famous composers of the country were performed in praise of the Motherland, Tajikistan, independence, unity, and the Leader of the Nation.
