President Emomali Rahmon Calls for Expanded CIS Cooperation in Security, Digitalization, Innovation, and Sustainable Development

On October 9, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, participated in and addressed a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held in the Avaza district of Turkmenistan.
At the outset, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to the Turkmen side for the high level of organization of the summit and its traditional hospitality. He also congratulated his Turkmen friends on the successful completion of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the CIS, positively assessing the efforts made in this capacity.
Noting the special significance of the current meeting of the Council of Heads of State, held in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the CIS, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon observed that the experience gained over the years had confirmed the continued relevance of the Commonwealth as a platform for political dialogue, the development of economic and humanitarian ties, and joint responses to security risks and challenges.
Emphasizing the solid legal and regulatory framework established to expand the scope of multilateral cooperation, the Leader of the Nation expressed satisfaction that the CIS is adapting to changing circumstances and shaping its cooperation in line with new realities.
In this regard, he highlighted the importance of developing technological cooperation, innovation, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the green economy, as well as implementing concrete projects in the field of renewable energy.
He also stressed the importance of continuing efforts to improve transport connectivity, maintaining a consistent focus on trade and economic relations, investment and industrial cooperation, and strengthening collaboration in the field of security.
Referring to Tajikistan’s initiative to proclaim 2027–2036 the International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations, which has received the support of the international community, the Head of State announced that, in cooperation with the United Nations and other international partners, Tajikistan plans to host an International High-Level Conference in Dushanbe in June 2027 to mark the official launch of the Decade.
In this context, the Leader of the Nation emphasized that the active participation of CIS member states in the conference, as well as their contribution to achieving the objectives of the Decade, would undoubtedly serve as a further demonstration of the solidarity shared by the countries of the Commonwealth.
In concluding his address, the Head of State expressed support for the decisions being adopted at the meeting and reaffirmed that Tajikistan consistently advocates the continuation of broad-based, constructive cooperation within the framework of the CIS.
