CESCD and the World Bank established cooperation on disaster risk management
DUSHANBE, 19.01.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. In order to assess the capacities and needs of the project “Disaster risk management of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan” the head of CESCD Rustam Nazarzoda has met with the World Bank consulting team led by the head of consulting company “Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC)” Aslam Perwais.
According to the chief of the press center of the CESCD Umeda Yusupova, effective mechanisms of implementation of the project were discussed. In particular, the issues of the creation of centers for the management of crisis situations at the republican, provincial and regional levels were considered. The two parties have also discussed the issues of strengthening staff potential, training centers, further development of information-analytical center of CESCD, as well as the issues of training and retraining of employees of Committee’s rescue divisions.
“The holding of such meetings contributes to the timely and fruitful implementation of joint projects”, — noted Aslam Perwais, and stressed that the conclusions and recommendations on the results of the consultation will help identify potential areas of support to the Committee in the future. He informed that the team will complete work on this project for 10 months.
It is also reported that the parties expressed readiness for further cooperation.
