Embassy of Turkey: “Nationals of Tajikistan have no ties to Istanbul terrorist attack”
DUSHANBE, 19.01.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. «Istanbul night club terrorist attack that took place on December 31, 2016, was committed by a 34-year-old citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdukodir Masharipov, who speaks Chinese, Russian, Arabic and Turkish languages», — said the representative of the Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe.
According to the representative of the Turkish Embassy in Tajikistan — Abdukodir Masharipov passed military training in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and is wanted by the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan. In January 2016, he illegally entered Turkey border from Iran. During a search of his property, 197 thousand US dollars, weapons and two quadrocopters were found.
Speaking about relations of the Tajik nationals with that organized crime, the embassy spokesperson said that at present the law enforcement agencies of Turkey is searching two citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan. According to him, these citizens handed over their rented accommodation to persons entering Syria and coming from that country.
«There is no information on the direct link of citizens of Tajikistan to this terrorist act», — said the representative of the Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe.
