DUSHANBE, 01.10.2018. /NIAT «Khovar»/. A scientific and practical conference entitled “International tourism — a factor of sustainable development” was held in Dushanbe on September 29. The conference was devoted to the Year of Tourism and Folk Crafts Development and was held under the auspices of the President of Tajikistan Football Federation in cooperation with the Executive body of state authority of Dushanbe city.

As NIAT “Khovar” correspondent reports, the conference was attended by the leadership of the Committee for Tourism Development, representative of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Executive body of state authority of Dushanbe city, heads of several ministries and departments, representatives of embassies accredited in Dushanbe, travel agencies, sanatoriums, health resorts, industry experts, development partners, teachers and students of the tourism sphere.

Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Numon Abdughafforzoda noted that it is thanks to the creative efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon that the resources and tourism opportunities of the country are properly represented at the international level.

N. Abdughafforzoda emphasized that today, within the framework of measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, high-level events are organized, as well as domestic travel agencies develop and offer programs to cover new tourist groups.

“For 8 months of this year, more than 60 new travel agencies have been created and integrated into the domestic market, which enjoy the privileges provided by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. In general, the number of travel agencies in Tajikistan has reached 140”, — Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development noted.

Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe city Mavsuma Muini noted that the Tourism Development Program in Dushanbe city for 2018-2020 and the Plan for events implementing were approved by the Decree of the Chairman of Dushanbe city in order to develop tourism sphere. It was also noted that in order to develop the tourism sphere and taking into account its importance in socio-economic development of the capital, the Council for Tourism Development will be established in the near future.

The conference participants had also an exchange of views on issues related to the initiative and support of the Leader of the Nation and the Government of the country in the field of tourism development in Tajikistan, providing security and implementing effective propaganda and information activities to provide national tourism products in the external market of services.

It was noted that in 2017 around 1.2 billion international tourist trips were carried out worldwide, according to experts’ forecasts, this figure will increase by 2022 to 1.4 billion and by 2030 — to 1.8 billion.

These factors require from all of us to use the existing opportunities and resources to develop tourism in Tajikistan and make the tourism sphere profitable.
