Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan discussed water management
DUSHANBE, 27.11.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The 75th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) of Central Asia was held on November 27 in Dushanbe.
As NIAT “Khovar” correspondent reports, the meeting was chaired by Sulton Rahimzoda, the First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was attended by the representatives of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the issues related to approval of water withdrawal limits of countries, operating modes of reservoir cascades and the predicted operating mode of reservoir cascades for the period 2018-2019 in the Syr Darya and Amu Darya river basins were discussed.
The meeting participants have also discussed the participation of ICWC members and executive bodies in the development of the Action Program to assist the countries of the Aral Sea basin.
It should be noted that the Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission was established on the basis of the signing of the Agreement between the Governments of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in 1992.
