More Than 1 Million Foreign Tourists Visited Tajikistan In 2018
DUSHANBE, 08.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The number of foreign tourists visiting Tajikistan in 2018 totaled 1, 155,000 people, which is over 2.5 times than in 2017, reported the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Numon Abdughafforzoda today at a press conference.
“A total of 751,000 domestic tourists visited historical and cultural sights, sanatoriums, resorts and other tourist attractions of the country. Seventy-five travel companies received operation licenses in 2018. Currently, there are 145 tourist companies operating in the country,” said Abdughafforzoda.
“More than 4,300 people were involved in the field of tourism in 2018, which is 1.600 more than in 2017. The total income from tourism services amounted to over 214 million somoni, which is more than 65 million somoni than in 2017,” stated Abdughafforzoda.
To date, 170 hotels are functioning in the country and another 41 are under construction.
