PRESS STATEMENT of the Main Directorate of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 14.03.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Press Center of the Main Directorate of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan reports that regardless of the measures taken, the situation remains difficult in the border area between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Today, citizens of Kyrgyzstan residing in Oksay village in Batken district, located at the entrance of the rural community Vorukh in the city of Isfara, hampered the negotiations between the delegations of the two states.
Approximately at 15:30, the residents of Oksay gathered in the territory of Vorukh, closed the road and began to threw stones at the citizens of Tajikistan. The Tajik citizens were forced to defend themselves.
Thereafter, the Kyrgyz border guards opened fire towards the unarmed Tajik citizens. As a result of the shooting, Tajik citizen and resident of the village Tidon in Vorukh died after suffering severe injuries. Another Tajik citizen and resident of Tidon, Haydarov Ansoriddin, was wounded and is now in the regional hospital of this rural community.
The gathered Kyrgyz citizens attacked the residential building of the Tajik citizens residing in Vorukh, as a result of which Mavluda Zayniyeva and Vohidov Abdunanon sustained injuries.
The escalation of unrest with fatal consequences in the border area was due to gross violations of the state border regime on the part of the Kyrgyz state border guards and Kyrgyz citizens, as well as insubordination to the competent authorities of this state.
