Hospital in the Rudaki District Receives $700,000 Worth of New Equipment
DUSHANBE, 05.07.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The central hospital in the Rudaiki district recieved new medical equipment as well as medicine worth $700,000 with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Mission in Tajikistan with financial assistance of the Russian government.
The hospital which employs 112 doctors, serves 588,631 residents of the district.
The medical equipment was provided within UNICEF’s Accelerated Child Survival and Development (ACSD) program, reported the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan.
The ACSD was launched in 2016. Its main goal is to make basic health services more accesible to mothers, newborns and children under five in Panjikent, Devashtich, Asht, Zafarobod, Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Mastchoh, Darvoz, Murghob, Ishkoshim, Rudaki, Rasht and Lakhsh.
The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Aziz Odinazoda, the Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov and UNICEF Representative Luciano Calestini took part in the ceremony to mark the occasion.
In his speech, Odinazoda noted that this initiative is a continuation of the stable cooperation between Tajikistan, Russia and UNICEF.
