Deputy PM Ibrohim Holds Interagency Council Meeting on Radiation Safety
DUSHANBE, 22.04.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim held an Interagency Council Meeting on Radiation Safety. Council members, representatives of relevant ministries and departments, and other responsible persons attended the meeting. The meeting focused on the coordination of the activities of relevant ministries and departments.
Initially, the Director of the Agency for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Tajik National Academy of Sciences reported on ensuring nuclear and radiation safety over the past period and the Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies reported on the working group’s visit to the Nuri Khovar State Unitary Enterprise.
Ibrohim called responsible parties to ensure timely and high-quality fulfillment of the tasks assigned to them. “The current state of the organization of work in this direction is not satisfactory,” said Ibrohim.
“Effective implementation of opportunities within the agreement between Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ‘Activities within Environmental Restoration for Central Asia in Tajikistan’ and the EurAsEC Interstate Agreement (now under CIS auspices), the Interstate Targeted Program ‘Improving Territories, under the Influence of Uranium Production’ will create favorable conditions for the rehabilitation of territories involved in industrial uranium production,” noted Ibrohim.
“Today we are responsible not only for the rehabilitation of territories affected by uranium production, but we are also obliged to leave future generations a clean, disinfected land,” stated Ibrohim.
