Over 355,000 Foreigners Visited Tajikistan in Nine Month of 2020

DUSHANBE, 20.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) –More than 355,000 foreign citizens visited Tajikistan in January through September of this year, which is 591,000 less compared to the same period of last year, according to the Agency on Statistics under the President of Tajikistan. Nearly 95% of them or 337,000 came from the CIS member nations.
Uzbekistan was in first place with 237,000 people coming to Tajikistan, which accounts for 66.9% of the total visitors. The second and third places are taken by Russia (47,000) and Kyrgyzstan (41,000), respectively.
The list also includes 7,400 Kazakhs, 4,500 Afghans, 2,600 Chinese, and 2,200 Turkish tourists.
The Committee for Tourism Development of Tajikistan reported that tourism sector continues to be heavily affected by the current crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
