Sustainable Tourism Development Discussed in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 23.12.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Sustainable tourism development and the role of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) in the global and local tourism industry were discussed in Dushanbe at the first meeting with the participation of stakeholders within the framework of the project Model of Sustainable Tourism in Central Asia: Capacity Building, Implementation of Information and Technology.
The online meeting organized by the Tajik Association of Tourism Promotion Organizations with the support of the Committee for Tourism Development was attended by domestic and foreign experts and heads of travel agencies.
The meeting focused on strengthening the role of state authorities in ensuring sustainable tourism development. Additionally, such topics as the organization of public dialogue between the authorities and tourism entities, attraction of investments and other technical support instruments were raised.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Kamoliddin Muminzoda spoke about the measures taken by the government for sustainable tourism development, and presented an overview of the implementation of the said project.
The meeting also focused on the upcoming tasks to establish feedback with tourism organizations and government agencies, the role of government authorities in ensuring sustainable tourism, and supporting travel companies in the context of COVID-19.
