Committee for Emergency Situations Warns of Rising River Levels and Avalanche Risk

DUSHANBE, 10.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) warns citizens and guests about the avalanche risk.
According to the Hydrometeorology Agency, in the coming days, due to the thawing, the water level is expected to rise in the rivers flowing from the southern slopes of the Hissor ridge, as well as in the Khingov River. The danger of avalanches remains in the mountainous districts of the republican subordination, on the southern slopes of the Hissor ridge and in the western part of Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
Citizens need to be as careful as possible, and avoid mountainous and foothill areas.
In order to prevent emergencies, the committee urgently asks to clear mudflows, canals, and irrigation ditches from debris.
