Dushanbe to Host a Meeting of the Heads of SCO Tourism Departments

DUSHANBE, 03.06.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of Tajikistan’s presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a meeting of leading experts was held in Dushanbe to prepare for the upcoming meeting of the heads of tourism departments of the SCO member states with the participation of representatives of India, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Tajikistan.
The meeting of the heads of SCO tourism departments is scheduled for July 15-16 within the framework of the Summit of the Heads of the SCO member states which will be held on September 16-17 in Dushanbe.
The meeting participants discussed the development of cooperation in the field of tourism between the SCO member states in the context of the global threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, the possibility of creating new tourist routes and ensuring the safety of tourists on these routes between the SCO member states, and a draft plan of joint actions for 2021-2022 on implementation of the SCO cooperation program in the tourism sector.
One of the main goals of the SCO, along with strengthening the mutually beneficial and good-neighborly trust of the member states, is also to promote effective cooperation in the field of tourism.
