In order to comply with and consolidate the agreements reached for avoiding possible provocations on the line of contact, on October 21, 2022, a meeting was held between the heads of the border agencies of both countries, namely Colonel General Rajabali Rahmonali of Tajikistan and Major General Ularbek Sharsheev of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The heads of the Tajik and Kyrgyz border agencies noted the need to strengthen timely measures to de-escalate the situation at the border and to strictly observe the line of conduct of the border guards of the two countries.
A firm commitment to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, good neighborly relations and solidarity in matters of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders was reaffirmed. In order to implement and consolidate the agreements, the parties agreed to hold regular meetings of joint working groups that are actively involved in normalizing the situation on the border.
The Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan and the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic state that the decision on the issue of determining the state border is the prerogative of intergovernmental commissions for the delimitation and demarcation of the border whose powers are approved by regulatory legal acts.
In this regard, the heads of the border agencies of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic call on the media, as well as unauthorized persons, to strictly refrain from any comments and prevent the dissemination of statements and interpretations of events that could lead to an escalation of conflict or an incitement of hostility between the two peoples.
The parties will assess any unauthorized statements as an attempt to destabilize the situation on the border between the two countries.
