Fergana Hosts a Meeting of the Heads of the Special Services of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

DUSHANBE, 07.05.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 6, 2024, the Uzbek city of Fergana of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Kamchybek Tashiev, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan Saymumin Yatimov and the Chairman of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov.
The negotiations focused in detail on the entire range of problems of ensuring regional security in an open and confidential manner.
It was took place an exchange of views on the state and prospects of interaction in such current areas as the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, illegal migration, smuggling and other threats and challenges of a trans-border nature.
The parties touched upon issues of cross-border cooperation and, in general, the creation of favorable conditions for the development of good neighborly relations between the states of the parties.
It was also discussed in a constructive manner the agenda items related to the delimitation of state borders between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as issues of demarcation of borders between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting participants reached agreements on accelerating the processes of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik and demarcation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state borders and identified practical measures to resolve these issues based on the mutual interests of the parties.
As a result of the negotiations, specific instructions were given to members of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission to coordinate the remaining sections of the border, as well as to prepare and sign a corresponding bilateral agreement.
