DCA Director: “There Are No Drug Laboratories in Tajikistan”

DUSHANBE, 29.07.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The analysis shows that in the first half of 2024, more than 3 tons of drugs were seized from illicit trafficking in Tajikistan, which is 25 percent or 619 kg more compared to the same period in 2023. It was reported today a press conference by the Director of the Drug Control Agency Zafar Samad.
“Out of this amount, over 217 kg were seized by the Drug Control Agency, more than 2 tons by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over 789 kg by the State Committee for National Security in collaboration with the Border Troops and 508 by the Agency for State Financial Control and Fight against Corruption. As a result of the measures taken in the first half of 2024, a total of 13,731 psychotropic tablets were seized, which is 4.6 times, or 10,776 tablets more, compared to the same period last year. Also, 84 units of psychotropic substances in powder form were seized from illicit trafficking, of which 80 kg methamphetamine,” added Samad.
He emphasized that there are no laboratories for the production of drugs in the Republic of Tajikistan. They are smuggled from other countries.
