DUSHANBE, 03.06.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On June 3, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, together with the Chairman of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustam Emomali, visited the progress of the second stage of construction work on the highway from the West Gate to the Chortut neighborhood.
During the acquaintance with the project of this road, the Head of State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, was informed that construction work on the highway from the West Gate to the Chortut neighborhood had begun in 2024.
The width of the road is 50 meters and consists of 8 lanes in two directions. Pedestrians, a bridge over the Hissor Canal with a length of 37.5 meters, a railway crossing with a length of 175 meters, 2 traffic roundabouts, and planting of ornamental and shady trees and shrubs on both sides constitute the main elements of the road.
The number of engineers and workers is more than 200, and they are working around the clock using 44 powerful road construction equipment and mechanisms to build and put into operation the road in a high-quality and planned manner.
The highway from the West Gate to the Chortut neighborhood is part of the ring road around the capital, and is intended to reduce the number of vehicles on the main roads and prevent traffic congestion in the city.
After the commissioning of this section of the road, vehicles traveling from the Hissar Valley to the east and south will no longer pass through the internal roads of the capital.
As the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon was informed, in continuation of the highway project from the West Gate to the Chortut neighborhood, construction work on a double-level road with a length of 67.3 meters, consisting of 4 lanes in both directions, is also underway.
The total length of the highway from the West Gate to the Chortut neighborhood is 9.2 kilometers, meeting international standards.
The first stage of the road, covering a distance of 5 kilometers, was put into operation in 2023, and the second and third stages, covering 4.2 kilometers, are planned to be put into operation by 2027.
In total, two overpasses and a multi-level overpass will be built on the ring road under construction, which is 18 km long and will connect the western gate of the capital with its southern gate without entering the city.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, gave instructions and recommendations to engineers and road builders to effectively use the existing opportunities and conditions, accelerate construction work, and put this road into operation ahead of schedule.
Similarly, in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, in anticipation of the 35th anniversary of State Independence, the construction of numerous social and service facilities is expanding. The aim of this initiative is to raise the socio-economic level of the population, provide high-quality services to guests and tourists, and present the ancient customs and culture of the Tajik nation on the world stage.
