DUSHANBE, 16.06.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As a result of operational-search activities conducted by the Department of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the Republic of Tajikistan in the city of Tursunzoda, a case of drug smuggling and illicit trafficking was detected and prevented.
Three individuals were detained on suspicion of involvement in illegal drug trafficking:
- Shoimardon Narkuzievich Eshmurodov, born in 1975, resident of Shulum village, Navobod rural community of Tursunzoda, married with nine children;
- Odiljon Abdurakhmonovich Boikulov, born in 1986, resident of Nurobod village, Jura Rakhmon jamoat of Tursunzoda;
- Jumanazar Mahmadrahimovich Khudoiberdiev, born in 1971, resident of Shirinchashma village, “10th Anniversary of Independence” jamoat of Tursunzoda.

During the operation, a cache of three polyethylene bags containing narcotic substances was discovered in a wheat field in Shirinchashma village. The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to 70 kilograms.
Further investigative actions established that Shoimardon Eshmurodov organized a criminal group engaged in drug trafficking. With the assistance of his accomplices Boikulov and Khudoiberdiev, he regularly smuggled narcotics across the state border into the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the confessions of the detained individuals, the drugs had been hidden in a concealed cache in the grain fields of Shirinchashma, with the intention of smuggling them into the neighboring country under the cover of night via a vulnerable section of the border.
The illicit drug trade remains one of the gravest threats to national health and security in the 21st century. Millions of people suffer from drug addiction worldwide. Medical research has proven the severe and harmful effects of drugs on human health, increasing vulnerability to various diseases.
Preventing and eradicating drug use in society requires a comprehensive approach: raising public awareness through medical and legal education, implementing preventative measures, and fostering collective action. This ongoing struggle calls for the unity and vigilance of the population and continued cooperation with national law enforcement agencies.
