Tajikistan Transport Minister, World Bank Officials Discuss Cooperation in Washington

On March 11, Azim Ibrohim, minister of transport of Tajikistan, met with Charles Cormier and Shomik Raj Mehndiratta in Washington, D.C. to discuss cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Bank and support for key sectors of the country’s economy, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
“I would like to emphasize that the Rogun Hydropower Plant project is an absolute national priority for Tajikistan and is crucial for the country’s future,” Ibrohim said. “Therefore, our future proposals and priorities in the transport sector will be reviewed and developed taking into account the significance of this strategic facility.”
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Transport Transformation 2026 ministerial conference, held March 10-11 at the World Bank headquarters in Washington.
The Tajik delegation included Ibrohim, Vali Makhsum, director of the state unitary enterprise “Institute for Design of Transport Facilities” under the transport ministry, and Usmon Siddikov, coordinator of the URPSCA-4 project.
