The National Bank of Tajikistan, as the insurance supervisory authority of the Republic of Tajikistan, has officially joined the Cape Town Declaration on Inclusive Insurance, thereby becoming a member of the Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii), Khovar reported, citing National Bank of Tajikistan.
The Access to Insurance Initiative works with insurance supervisory authorities in member countries to expand insurance coverage globally. Its key participants include central banks, insurance regulators, ministries of finance, international organizations, development partners, research centers, and networks such as the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).
Established in 2009 with the support of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and other partners, the Initiative promotes sectoral knowledge development, experience exchange among insurance professionals, and strengthened dialogue between regulators and stakeholders.
The Initiative aims to increase insurance coverage and improve access to insurance services worldwide. Its activities focus on implementing the Cape Town Declaration on Inclusive Insurance, fostering innovative approaches to inclusive insurance, and creating platforms for regulatory experience sharing.
The Cape Town Declaration emphasizes key areas including microinsurance supervision, digitalization of insurance services, insurance against natural disasters, gender equality, financial inclusion, and capacity building for insurance regulators. Its five High-Level Goals align with the strategic priorities of insurance supervision in Tajikistan. Through this initiative, the Tajik insurance sector will gain access to international expertise, enhance regulatory legislation, develop innovative supervisory processes, formulate strategic documents, and expand international cooperation.
