Customs officials from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan held a bilateral meeting at the Jarteppa border crossing in Uzbekistan, opposite the Sarazm crossing in Tajikistan, the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan said.
Azim Tursunzoda, first deputy head of Tajikistan’s Customs Service, and Nadir Musamukhamedov, deputy chairman of Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the customs sector.
The sides reviewed measures to simplify the movement of goods and vehicles across the border, improve checkpoint operations and strengthen interagency coordination.
They also exchanged experience on the digitalization of customs procedures. The Tajik delegation presented the VIN.TJ vehicle identification and registration system, which took effect March 16, 2026.
Uzbek representatives praised Tajikistan’s experience in this area and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation.
