Health ministers from Central Asian countries are discussing the finalization of the “Roadmap for Health and Well-being in Central Asia 2026–2030” on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva.
Tajikistan’s Minister of Health and Social Protection, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, said the development of the regional roadmap has evolved into a significant political process that began with initial dialogue in Dushanbe and continued through technical consultations, governance planning and coordination of operational mechanisms.
According to Abdullozoda, Central Asian countries have largely agreed on the project and its implementation guidelines, while key governance mechanisms have already been established. He noted that the region is now prepared to move toward the approval and implementation phase, particularly as 2026 has been declared the Year of Health in the CIS.
Officials described the roadmap not only as a strategic document, but also as a practical platform for coordinating regional healthcare cooperation and advancing joint public health priorities across Central Asia.
Abdullozoda said Tajikistan is ready to adopt the roadmap and actively participate in its implementation in priority areas.
During the assembly, Abdullozoda also met with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization. The sides discussed Tajikistan’s cooperation with the global health body and expressed interest in further strengthening partnership ties.
