Tajikistan Sets Priorities for Continued Energy Sector Modernization

The sixth meeting of the Steering Committee of the Sustainable Energy Support Program in Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe on June 16, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
Addressing the meeting, Energy and Water Resources Minister Daler Juma underscored the importance of continuing reforms in Tajikistan’s energy sector.
Project experts presented a progress report outlining key achievements since the program’s launch, including developments in market pricing, sector governance, regulatory reform, digitalization and the promotion of renewable energy sources. The report also highlighted work on drafting Tajikistan’s Energy Code.
Participants identified priority areas for the remainder of the project, including the adoption of the Energy Code, the establishment of a national energy market structure, improvements in energy efficiency, further digitalization of the sector, strengthening the financial sustainability of energy enterprises and enhancing the capacity of regulatory institutions.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on key aspects of energy sector reform and discussions on the next steps for implementing the program.
