On July 7, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, during a working trip to Devashtich district, in the village of Dalyoni Bolo, commissioned a new 12-kilometer-long water pipeline.

With the commissioning of the water pipeline, the area of potato cultivation has been increased to 800 hectares, creating a stable basis for the production of more than 200 thousand tons of agricultural products in the future. This important measure was implemented with the funding of the Executive Body of State Power of Sughd Province.

The water pipeline from the Sharshara area, whose source originates from the glaciers of the towering mountains and clear mountain springs, was transported to the specified distance through pipes with a diameter of 400 millimeters, and at the same time, a modern system of water storage, regulation, and regular supply was established with the construction of a special water storage pond. It ensures stable and reliable operation of the water supply and irrigation network, serving as an important basis for improving the level of service and meeting the population’s needs for high-quality water.

During the acquaintance, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that now, with the commissioning of the new water pipeline, more than 2,000 local residents will be provided with permanent and seasonal work. At the same time, the full use of the potential of irrigated lands will create a favorable basis for increasing the production of potatoes and other agricultural products, and will make a significant contribution to the implementation of one of the country’s strategic goals — ensuring food security.

After the opening of the water pipeline, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, visited a large area of potato cultivation.

It was emphasized that the Devashtich district is one of the main potato production regions in the republic and annually makes a significant contribution to providing the domestic market with this important food product. This year, potatoes were planted on an area of 9,200 hectares in all forms of agriculture in the district, and the planned planting plan was implemented by more than 113 percent. These indicators demonstrate the sustainable development of the sector and the effective use of the potential of agricultural lands.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, instructed to increase the area of potato planting in the Devashtich district to 10 thousand hectares, so that thousands of new jobs would be created and the possibility of exporting this product abroad would also emerge.

Then, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, visited the exhibition of agricultural products, sectoral equipment and machinery, folk crafts and national cuisine in the Devashtich district and highly appreciated the activities of farmers and the existing opportunities for the development of the sector.

At the exhibition, farmers of the district, who today have achieved significant results in all sectors of agriculture and use water and land effectively and rationally, presented the products of their labor.

At the same time, the exhibition featured a corner of folk crafts and national cuisine with special taste and skill. Examples of the products of the hands of talented craftsmen and women and mothers of the Devashtich district, including national dishes typical of the district, brightened this corner with their colorfulness, sophistication, and the labor of their skillful hands, testifying to the ancient culture, high craftsmanship, and good traditions of hospitality of the Tajik people.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, while getting acquainted with the fruits of the labor of the district’s subsistence farmers, gave instructions to officials and specialists in the agricultural sector to produce and maintain sufficient stocks of food, seeds of high-yielding varieties, animal feed, increase the production capacity of farms, supply the country’s markets with fresh, high-quality products, and export them abroad.
