President Emomali Rahmon, South Korean Parliament Speaker Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

On September 17, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Korea, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Honorable Cho Jung-sik.
President Emomali Rahmon emphasized the important role of active inter-parliamentary dialogue in the further expansion of multifaceted relations between Tajikistan and Korea.

In this context, the activation of the Tajikistan–Korea Inter-parliamentary Friendship and Cooperation Group between the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea was deemed necessary as a facilitating instrument.

It was pointed out that Tajikistan also attaches great importance to the activities of the platform of the Meeting of Speakers of the Parliaments of Central Asian Countries and the Republic of Korea in implementing initiatives aimed at promoting our shared development and ensuring regional stability.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the current level and state of political relations between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea.

Particular attention was paid to expanding economic, trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

Confidence was expressed that the Tajikistan–Korea Business Forum, held on September 16 in Seoul, would provide a significant impetus to expanding direct ties between business communities, attracting investment, implementing joint projects, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

It was noted that parliamentary support in improving the legal framework for economic relations, supporting business initiatives, and creating favorable conditions for private-sector activities is of great importance.

Important issues of regional and international cooperation, as well as relations between the countries within prominent international organizations, including the United Nations, were among the other topics discussed.
