Clash on the Tajik-Afghan border
Dushanbe, 16.02.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). — On the night of Ferbruary 13, border patrol and task force of Border troops and Department of State Committee for National Security (SCNS) on Khatlon region prevented an attempt of illegal crossing of the line of the Tajik-Afghan state border and smuggling of narcotic drugs.
According to the press secretary of the Main Directorate of Border troops of SCNS of Tajikistan Muhammad Ulugkhojaev, an unknown armed group of smugglers composed of 6-7 people during the illegal crossing of the state border collided with the border duty. The violators did not obey the demands of border guards, as a result between them occurred an armed firefight. Unknown criminals could not resist and fled to contiguous territories.
As a result of inspection of the scene were seized more than 1 kg of heroin, 2 kg of opium and more than 55 kilograms of hashish.
Currently, the investigative body of the SCNS pursues an inquiry.
