Pentagon: U.S. airstrike target was senior leader of al-Shabaab
Dushanbe, 02.04.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). The Pentagon said on Friday it had conducted an airstrike against a senior leader of the al-Qaeda-affiliated extremist group al-Shabaab in Somalia.
According to Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook, in cooperation with the federal government of Somalia, on Thursday, March 31, the US military conducted an air strike in Somalia against Hassan Ali Dhoore, a senior leader of al-Shabaab.
“Dhoore had planned and overseen attacks resulting in the death of at least three U.S. citizens, and he was also believed to have been plotting attacks targeting U.S. citizens in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia”, — said Cook.
