Global Money Week starts in Tajikistan
Dushanbe, 10.03.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). — For the second year in a row Tajikistan is part of the international financial literacy week — Global Money Week, which will take place on 14-21 March 2016. The event is dedicated to the issues of increasing financial awareness of the young generation and is conducted across 124 countries annually.
The Global Money Week is the initiative of the international organization Child and Youth Finance International and is conducted in partnership with competent institutions in the participating countries. In Tajikistan, these are the National Bank of Tajikistan, local financial institutions, the Association of Banks of Tajikistan and the Association of Microfinance Organizations of Tajikistan.
Just like previous year, GIZ Programme Framework and Finance for Private Sector Development in Tajikistan (FFPSD) is actively involved in the Global Money Week — 2016. With less than a week to go, the Programme specialists, upon NBT request, are holding a ToT for the officers of local financial institutions on the methodology of delivering educative, interactive seminars for students of secondary schools and universities. For that reason, they have adapted training materials to ensure the audience apprehends and digests the specific information.
We will recall that on 9-17 March, 2015 seminars in frames of the Global Money Week financial literacy seminars covered 689 students of secondary and high schools of Dushanbe and Khujand, as well as in 8 districts of Khatlon province and Direct Rule Districts with participation of partner financial institutions. Globally, the event covered 5,6 million of schoolchildren and students.
FFPSD programme is implemented by GIZ; it is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the UK Department for International Development (DfID).
