Meeting with Director General of TASS Information Agency Sergey Mikhailov and his first deputy Mikhail Gusman
Dushanbe, 14.03.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). – Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Director General of the Information Agency «TASS» Sergey Mikhailov and his first deputy, Mikhail Gusman, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the XXI session of the Council of heads of state news agencies of the CIS member states.
President Emomali Rahmon during the meeting spoke about the importance of information in today’s world, and noted that the media play a key role in shaping public opinion and managing it, so we fully support all activities related to cooperation in this field.
Due to the alarming developments in the world, the Middle East and, in particular, near the southern borders of the CIS, fruitful cooperation of the mass media of our countries in the information counteraction to subversive propaganda of international terrorism and religious extremism forces is needed ever more, — said the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also exchanged views on various issues, strategic relations between Tajikistan and Russia, Tajikistan’s role in regional and international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as other relevant issues.
