DCA: Fight against drugs is a component part of the fight against terrorism and extremism
Dushanbe, 13.04.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Director of the Drug Control Agency /DCA/ under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherkhon Salimzoda on April 11 met with the U.S. delegation headed by U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Ms. Elizabeth Millard here in Dushanbe.
According to DCA press center, Director has informed the guests about the drug situation in Tajikistan and cooperation with law enforcement agencies of the region and the world.
The head of the Agency has stressed that according to the message of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon to Majlisi Oli in January of current year, the fight against drug trafficking is considered a component part of the fight against terrorism and extremism, because drug use harms the gene pool of the nation.
The U.S. Ambassador has expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation with the DCA and other law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan.
During the meeting the issues of bilateral cooperation between Agency and U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan in the fields of drug control and the prospects for its development have also been discussed.
