Dushanbe, 09.11.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Chairman of Majlisi milli, his deputies, chairmen of committees and members of Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli at the eighth session of Majlisi milli fifth convocation that was held on November 8 here in Dushanbe, according to Decree of Majlisi milli on introducing additions to the Regulation of Majlisi milli, swore an oath to the people of Tajikistan.

The text of the oath of members of Majlisi milli reads as follows: “As a member of Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, with a sense of responsibility, I swear to the people of Tajikistan that will put the interests of the nation and the state first, will carry out my activities in accordance with the Constitution and Laws of the Republic of Tajikistan, will apply all my efforts, knowledge and experience for socio-economic development of the country, strengthening of national unity and state independence, ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens, I swear to faithfully and conscientiously participate in the development and passing of laws”.

The members of Majlisi milli, following the discussion, have unanimously passed the Constitutional Laws and Laws of the Republic of Tajikistan on amendments and additions to a number of existing Laws, including the Constitutional Laws of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation”, “On social welfare, maintenance and protection of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan”, Laws of the Republic of Tajikistan “On introducing additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan”, “On introducing amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan”, “On introducing amendments and additions to the Code of Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Republic of Tajikistan”, “On introducing amendments and additions to the Code of the Republic of Tajikistan “On administrative offenses”, “On introducing amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On holidays” and other Laws passed by Majlisi namoyandagon.

The members of Majlisi milli have supported the proposals of Majlis of people’s deputies of Khatlon and Sugd regions on renaming a number of villages in the districts and towns of Abdurahmoni Jomi, Shahritus, Panj, Isfara and Konibodom. Also, the proposal of Majlis of people’s deputies of Vahdat city to rename a number of villages was unanimously supported.

It was emphasized that the need of renaming towns and villages is directly connected with the state independence, honoring the history and culture of the country, as well as compliance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On state language of the Republic of Tajikistan”.

The members of Majlisi milli have also unanimously supported the Law “On introducing amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On state symbols of the Republic of Tajikistan”, according to which every citizen has the right to hang the national flag over his house as a sign of respect to this state symbol.
