Turkey confirms ceasefire agreement reached in Aleppo
An agreement on the cessation of hostilities has been reached following contacts between Russia’s representatives and members of the Syrian opposition in eastern Aleppo. Some diplomatic sources have informed TASS that the relevant information had been provided on Tuesday by Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman, Huseyin Muftuoglu.
The diplomat noted that the issue at hand is the agreements on evacuating civilians from the city at first stage, and then — evacuating opposition groups in the direction of Idlib.
Muftuoglu recalled that Turkey had made efforts in recent weeks to make sure that the humanitarian corridors were open. He warned though that the situation in Syria is still very fragile.
