25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and People’s Republic of China
DUSHANBE, 04.01.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. On January 4, 2017 at the Institute for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) was held an Academic Conference dedicating to the 25th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and China.
According to the Tajik MFA Information Department, the organizers of the Conference—were the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the PRC and the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) with the assistance of the Institute for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies and as well as with the support of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
«The initiative speech for the opening of the Conference was addressed by Director of the Institute for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) professor Li Yuquan, meanwhile, there were also greeting statements addressed by Deputy Head of Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Hu Lemin; Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Mr. Li Huilai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to China Mr. P.Davlatzoda, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) Mr. Song Jingwu and SCO Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Wang Kaiwen. During their speeches all speakers noted the great historical significance of the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and China, which was signed in Dushanbe on January 4, 1992, that it’s laid the legal basis for equal and friendly relations between Tajikistan and China. There were special emphases on the historically established friendship between the peoples of our nations, which it been seen as an invaluable asset, that we can rightly be proud of this achievement and that we are called to protect and multiply», — it is stated in the message of the ministry.
It is reported that the Conference was attended by prominent Chinese experts, scholars from academic institutions of Beijing and Shanghai, former Chinese Ambassador in Tajikistan, Ambassador of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, as well as members of diplomatic missions accredited in Beijing. 15 reports and statements were heard on the contemporary relations of bilateral, political, trade, economic and cultural relations, strategic partnership,the results and prospects of bilateral cooperation and interaction between Tajikistan and China during the Conference.
The event aroused great interest and was widely covered by Chinese media.
