Tajikistan FM Sirodjidin Aslov attended the Special event “Priority actions for water and disasters in the next decade”
DUSHANBE, 23.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Sirodjidin Aslov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan on March 22 has participated and addressed as a key note speaker at the Special event entitled “Priority actions for water and disasters in the next decade” which was held in the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
According to the MFA Information Department, in his statement, the Foreign Minister emphasized the significant increase in number of extreme natural phenomena in Tajikistan, which causes serious damage to the population and the economy of the country. The Foreign Minister noted the ever-increasing impact of climate change on the environmental situation in the country, as well as the high volume of glacier and snowfalls melting.
In conclusion, Minister Aslov expressed hope that the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028», will help to strengthen the potential in every possible way, strengthen the exchange of experience and knowledge, expand cooperation and partnership in water-related natural disasters.
