President Emomali Rahmon: “The Government of Tajikistan continues to take concrete steps to combat modern challenges and threats”
DUSHANBE, 20.09.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. “Today, we are all witnessing horrific and tragic events taking place in different parts of the world. The expansion of the scale of terrorism, extremism, armed conflicts, transnational organized crime and drug trafficking pose a serious threat to the security of our countries”, — stated President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at his speech at the plenary session of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
“We again emphasize that the inhuman actions of these forces have nothing to do with the bright religion of Islam. On the contrary, they contradict the moral requirements, tolerant and humanistic values of Islam. The fight against these threats requires all Member States of the Organization to take decisive joint measures within the framework of international law and the refusal to apply double standards”, — announced the Head of State.
The Government of Tajikistan in cooperation with its partners and international organizations, especially with relevant UN agencies, continues to consistently take concrete steps to combat modern challenges and threats, maintaining lasting peace and stability in the country. The implementation of the second stage of the National Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for Combating Terrorism and Extremism for the period until 2020 is one such action, — said President of Tajikistan and stressed that the success of joint actions for the prevention and resolution of conflicts, finding peaceful solutions to crises and existing contradictions is primarily connected with the effective use of the tools of preventive diplomacy and mediation efforts. In this regard, Tajikistan sees the solution of the problem of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in constructive negotiations, in a peaceful manner and in the framework of the fair implementation of the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
“We believe that peace and stability are the guarantee of sustainable economic and social development, a dignified and peaceful life for the people, the creation of favorable conditions for the development of civil society, the observance and protection of human rights in each of the member states of the United Nations”, — Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon.
