Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN attended the Global SDG 7 Conference
DUSHANBE, 24.02.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov on February 22 participated and addressed the Global SDG 7 Conference, being held on 21 through 23 February 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
According to the MFA Information Department, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN, who participates in the Conference as Vice President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), also presided over one of the panel sessions of the Conference on «Ensuring Universal Access to Electricity».
“During the Conference Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov also met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commissions for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) Dr. Shamshad Akhtar. The meeting discussed the issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and ESCAP, as well as strengthening of regional cooperation”, — says the message.
In addition, the sides exchanged the views on preparations for the forthcoming joint events, such as a special event on launching the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028» (March 22, 2018, New York), International Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028» (June 20-22, 2018, Dushanbe) and the International Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism (3-4 May 2018, Dushanbe).
