A Tajik delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sanoi Boyzoda participated in the opening of Stockholm World Water Week.
According to Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry, Boyzoda stressed the importance of turning global water commitments into practical action and called for keeping water issues at the forefront of the international agenda while strengthening cooperation in the sector.
Particular attention was given to preparations for the 2028 United Nations Water Conference, which Tajikistan is co-chairing. Boyzoda said the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028,” held in Dushanbe in May 2026, laid an important foundation for continued international consultations on the conference’s expected outcomes and the development of topics for its interactive dialogues.
He also briefed participants on Tajikistan’s efforts to advance a draft U.N. General Assembly resolution on the modalities of the 2028 U.N. Water Conference, as well as a proposal to consider the Dushanbe Water Framework as one of the conference’s possible outcomes.
Boyzoda said the U.N. water conferences of 2023, 2026 and 2028 should be viewed as a single, coherent global process that contributes to concrete results and helps shape the future global water agenda.
