Parliament ratified Agreement between Governments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on mutual travel of citizens
DUSHANBE, 19.03.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Today, the Lower Chamber of Parliament of Tajikistan — Majlisi namoyandagon ratified the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on mutual travel of citizens. According to this document, citizens of the two friendly and neighboring countries — Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have the right to travel to each country for 30 days without visa.
As NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by Parliament’s Lower Chamber, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Nizomiddin Zohidi commenting this issue noted that the agreement was proposed to Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli for ratification by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
This Agreement is composed of preface and 17 articles, and signed to further enhance relations between the two friendly and neighboring states and their citizens, as well as the legal regulation of the mutual travel procedure of citizens of these countries without visa.
It should be noted that articles 5 to 9 of this Agreement regulate the procedure for issuing multiple visas for up to 12 months for drivers of vehicles carrying international cargo traffic. The signing of this Agreement and its implementing for a short period of time contributes to the unhindered travel of citizens of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to each other’s territory, as well as the turnover of consumer goods.
We will recall that the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on mutual travel of citizens was signed within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Tajikistan on March 9-10.
