Exhibition of Romanian Folk Crafts in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 11.12.2018. (NIAT Khovar) – The Embassy of Romania in Tajikistan (with residence in Kazakhstan) held an exhibition of Romanian photos and folk crafts in Dushanbe.
The items exhibited are part of the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The exhibition was held on December 6, at the Serena Hotel. Representatives of the country’s ministries and departments, diplomatic corps accredited in Dushanbe and the residents of the capital attended the event.
This is the first Romanian cultural event in Tajikistan, and is seen as a step toward developing bilateral cultural relations between the two countries.
Romania culture is rich and diverse. Pottery is a very popular craft in the countryside of both countries. Romanian potters exhibit their work at the International Crafts Fair, held in Romania every year.
Romanian embroidery resembles the Tajik Chakan in its coloring and decorations. Chakan was recently added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
