Tajikistan and Oman discussed expanding bilateral trade, investment and business cooperation during talks in Muscat on Aug. 5 between Tajik Ambassador Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda and Sheikh Faisal ibn Abdullah Al Rawas, chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

According to the Embassy of Tajikistan in Oman, the sides reviewed the current state of economic relations and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and commerce. They said closer economic ties could further reinforce the friendly relations and long-term partnership between the two countries.

The discussions focused on increasing bilateral trade, attracting Omani investment to Tajikistan, promoting the country’s investment potential and creating favorable conditions for businesses in both countries. The two sides also highlighted the importance of establishing direct contacts between business communities, organizing working meetings and facilitating exchanges of expertise between private-sector representatives.

The ambassador and the chamber chairman underscored the need to expand cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of both countries through business forums, trade conferences, roundtable discussions and exhibitions showcasing national products. They also expressed readiness to organize reciprocal visits by government officials and business delegations, encourage participation in economic events held in both countries and strengthen direct links between companies.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of establishing joint ventures in priority sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, logistics, energy and food processing. Both sides expressed their commitment to developing mutually beneficial projects, making better use of their economic potential and enhancing cooperation between relevant institutions in Tajikistan and Oman.
