Foreign Minister: Tajik Children Will Be Brought Back from Iraq And Syria
DUSHANBE, 12.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The children of Tajik citizens who remain in Iraq and Syria will be brought back home, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin at a press conference today.
“Today there are 92 Tajik children in Iraq. Among them 31 infants and toddlers up to age three. Seventy-five parents gave their consent for their children’s departure from Iraq. Parental permission is one of the main requirements for travel according to the Iraqi law. All children, without exception, will be returned home,” Sirojiddin Muhriddin explained.
“There are 43 Tajik women in Iraqi prisons. Their return home requires considerable effort,” Sirojiddin Muhriddin emphasized.
“Negotiations and establishing contacts for the return of Tajik citizens who are in Syria will begin in the near future. One of the Tajik ambassadors in the countries neighboring Syria will be involved toward this end,” noted Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
