Central Asian States Plan to Launch New Silk Road Visa

DUSHANBE, 09.07.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Central Asian nations plan to launch the Silk Road Visa program according to the principles of the Schengen Agreement. This issue will be discussed at a meeting of the CIS Council for Tourism, which will be held today through July 10 in the ancient city of Samarkand. Tajikistan will be represented at this meeting by the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Numon Abdughafforzoda.

The agenda of the meeting includes a variety of issues, inlcuding the results of the implementation of the Action Plan for 2018-2020, the implementation of the Tourism Development Strategy untill 2020, the project of Tourism Development Cooperation Strategy for 2021-2030, and to establish a single Central Asian visa called the Silk Road Visa.

The leaders of the tourism ministries of CIS states are expected to consider the issues related to the strengthening tourism cooperation between the CIS countries within the framework of which it is planned to hold the First Annual Tourism Fair, reports the Committee for Tourism Development.

It should be noted that last year’s meeting of the CIS Council for Tourism was held on 10-11 August in Dushanbe.

The Council of Tourism of the CIS member states was established in 1994. It is composed of representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The council focuses on developing a unified strategy for tourism development in the CIS countries and coordinating implementation of the tourism policy.
