DUSHANBE, 01.07.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti.

The current state and prospects of the Tajik – EBRD cooperation were the subject of the discussion.

President Emomali Rahmon noted that  the results of this meeting will provide opportunities for expanding and strengthening cooperation between Tajikistan and the EBRD.

Suma Chakrabarti noted his appreciation for President Rahmon’s contribution toward pursuing successful economic policies, successful introduction of reforms in all sectors and, sustainable economic development in Tajikistan.

The sides discussed expanding cooperation in the fields of energy development, the use of power resources, development of transport infrastructure in order to expand regional cooperation, supporting the private sector, reliable financial market development, supporting entrepreneurship related to final processing of agricultural products and other priority sectors.It was stressed that within the framework of close and effective cooperation

between the Tajik government and the EBRD, 127 various projects totaling $755 million have been implemented in Tajikistan.

Currently in Tajikistan, 22 investment projects costing more than $520 million are being implemented with the financial support of the EBRD.

The meeting also addressed the implementation of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, as well as increasing funding and the allocation of grant funds.
