Over Half a Ton of Drugs Burned in Sughd Region
KHUJAND, 03.09.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Over half a ton of drugs were destroyed yesterday in a special furnace of the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sughd.
A special commission, which included representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, prosecution and court authorities, as well as other relevant structures took part in the event.
“The drugs were seized as a result of operational-search measures by police officers of the Sughd Region,” said a press officer of the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sughd Akbar Sharifov.
According to court decisions on 256 criminal cases, almost 700 kg of drugs were burned in the oven, including 25 kg 265 g of heroin, 422 kg 688 g of hashish, 143 kg 892 g of opium, 37 kg 214 g of hemp, 94 hemp bushes, and nine ampoules of phenobarbital.
