President Emomali Rahmon Receives the WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya
DUSHANBE, 23.09.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 23, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya.
The current state and prospects of Tajikistan-WCO cooperation were the focus of the discussion. President Rahmon noted that the meeting will serve as a step towards strengthening and expanding bilateral ties.
It was stressed that since independence, the government of Tajikistan has been carrying out reforms in all sectors of the economy and trade, and will continue to pay attention to the effective improvement of customs affairs.
The officials also discussed modernizing the customs administration by the automatization of the information system, modernization of the customs infrastructure, as well as training and increasing the qualification of customs workers.
Improving the legislation on trade, economic policy, and promotion of exports were also touched upon.
