Tajik Delegation Met with the OSCE ODIHR Director in Warsaw
DUSHANBE, 18.09.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Tajik delegation met with the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Ingibjörg Gísladóttir. The meeting was held on September 16 in Warsaw within the framework of the OSCE Meeting on the Review of Implementation of Commitments in the Human Dimension, reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The head of the Tajik delegation, Assistant to the President of Tajikistan on Legal Issues Zarif Alizoda briefed Gísladóttir on the human rights situation in Tajikistan, as well as on the fulfillment of obligations undertaken by Tajikistan under various international conventions and programs.
Gísladóttir, who recently visited Tajikistan, noted improvements in the field of ensuring human rights, as well as other processes of development of a democratic society in the country.
The issue relating to the possible participation of the OSCE ODIHR in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in Tajikistan was also discussed.
